One year ago, I heard the words that changed my life: you have breast cancer. Today, as I continue my journey as a breast cancer warrior, I am incredibly honored to participate in Reston Runway to the Cure, an event that represents so much more than a runway show. It is a celebration of strength, resilience, hope and the incredible community that surrounds those facing breast cancer.

Each year, Reston Runway to the Cure, with founding sponsors Scout & Molly’s Boutique, Hyatt Regency Reston, and BXP, donates 50% of its net proceeds to a national organization dedicated to advancing breast cancer research, treatment, and early detection, while the remaining 50% supports a local Washington, D.C. metro-area nonprofit that provides essential services to breast cancer warriors and their families.

This event brings together businesses, organizations, families, and friends who all share a common purpose: to find a cure, raise awareness, and support those navigating one of life's most difficult challenges.

For me, this event is deeply personal. Over the past year, I have learned that no one fights breast cancer alone. The unwavering love, encouragement and support from my family, friends, and community have carried me through every appointment, every treatment, every setback and every victory. Their strength has become my strength and I am endlessly grateful for each person who has walked beside me.

Every model on this runway is a current or former breast cancer warrior with a unique story of courage. As we walk down the runway, we are not defined by our diagnosis, we are reclaiming our stories. We are honoring the battles we've fought, celebrating how far we've come, and reminding others that there is hope beyond the diagnosis.

I walk this runway not only to bring awareness to breast cancer but also to be a symbol of hope for those who are just beginning their journey. If sharing my story helps even one person feel less alone or gives them the courage to keep moving forward, then every step is worth it.

This runway isn't about perfection or fashion, it's about resilience, faith, community and the beauty that shines through even the hardest seasons of life. I am proud to stand alongside so many remarkable survivors and fighters, and together we show that while breast cancer may forever be part of our story, it will never define who we are.

One year ago, I heard the words that changed my life: you have breast cancer. Today, as I continue my journey as a breast cancer warrior, I am incredibly honored to participate in Reston Runway to the Cure, an event that represents so much more than a runway show. It is a celebration of strength, resilience, hope and the incredible community that surrounds those facing breast cancer.

Each year, Reston Runway to the Cure, with founding sponsors Scout & Molly’s Boutique, Hyatt Regency Reston, and BXP, donates 50% of its net proceeds to a national organization dedicated to advancing breast cancer research, treatment, and early detection, while the remaining 50% supports a local Washington, D.C. metro-area nonprofit that provides essential services to breast cancer warriors and their families.
